大卫·波斯特（David Post）出生于纽约市，拥有芝加哥大学、新学校社会研究学院和布兰代斯大学的学位。他从小便开始学习音乐，师从萨缪尔·雷纳（Samuel Reiner）和查尔斯·福布斯（Charles Forbes）学习大提琴，并在芝加哥大学接受查尔斯·惠滕伯格（Charles Whittenberg）和拉尔夫·夏佩（Ralph Shapey）等作曲家指导。他的音乐风格优雅而富有表现力，作品涵盖了室内乐、合唱和管弦乐等多个领域。波斯特的作品曾获普利策奖提名，并在美国和欧洲的多个著名音乐平台上演出。
