This historic recording was made in 1967 in the presence of the composer Messiaen. Seiji Ozawa\’s ability to reproduce Messiaen\’s vividly colored, unique sound, overwhelmingly rich ups and downs, and dramatic development with unparalleled passion was definitively recognized by this recording. Even when compared to the many excellent performances that have come after, this work\’s appeal has never faded. The soloists in the premiere, Messiaen\’s wife Loriod and her sister, are also solid. // Recorded on Dec. 7-9th, 1967 at Massey Hall, Toronto.
