专辑简介
Long before the barrooms, stadiums and festivals, Jason Scott already knew a few things about leading a crowd.
Years ahead of his emergence as the frontman of The High Heat, the Oklahoma-based outfit with whom he has already shared stages alongside the likes of Morgan Wallen, Brooks & Dunn and The Band of Heathens, Scott grew up deeply involved in a devout Pentecostal family. His relationship with faith at that stage in his life was so profound, in fact, that he even took on the responsibilities of a worship pastor for a period of time.
Today, however, you’d be excused if you questioned Scott’s knowledge of the Bible at first glance, considering he now leads one of roots-driven country-rock’s most fiery outfits of musicians. As he tells PEOPLE in an exclusive conversation over breakfast in Nashville, however, he doesn’t see as many differences between the two worlds as one may initially perceive.
“Your question was, ‘Does one influence the other?’ Absolutely,” Scott explains. “I feel like that visceral thing … our music is from preaching. That kind of music, it’s so based on emotionalism, and so is rock and roll. I get that same feeling that I used to get in church sometimes … it’s a conduit, kind of. It’s all one organism if it goes right, and your job is to lead people to the promised land. You know what I mean? That hasn’t changed.”
